District heating is an art

The performance and efficiency of the heating boiler are closely related to the degree of insulation of the walls, as well as the floor and ceilings

  • – The walls and floor are thermally insulated with polystyrene or mineral wool (e.g. 5 cm of polystyrene or mineral wool thermally insulates as much as 40 cm of brick masonry)
  • – Double-glazed windows or sealed doors and windows
  • – For apartment blocks, the stairwell should be heated or the front door should be closed
  • – Use of radiators of adequate power for the heating surface, preferably their oversizing
  • – Avoiding the passage of pipes through balconies, garages, unheated spaces, and concrete floors or their thermal insulation
  • – The use of high-efficiency steel radiators, while the calculation of radiators is also very important
  • – Use of a temperature in radiators of max. 55°C
  • – The heating system must have the shortest possible route, the radiators must be placed on the interior walls, avoiding placing them under the windows (double glazed windows normally do not need to be heated to prevent condensation) and giving up the distributors

  • Short routes
  • Low heat steel radiators
  • Positioning of radiators on interior walls (not under windows)
